When the fire extinguisher is activated, the liquid carbon dioxide inside is quickly converted into gas under high pressure. In this process, the transition of carbon dioxide molecules from liquid to gas requires the absorption of a large amount of heat, the so-called "heat of vaporization". This characteristic enables the ejected carbon dioxide gas to quickly reduce the temperature around the fire source, weaken the heat source of the flame, and thus slow down the spread of the fire. In addition to absorbing heat and cooling, carbon dioxide gas also spreads rapidly and covers the surface of the flame after being ejected due to its high density and non-flammable characteristics. This thick layer of carbon dioxide gas effectively isolates the flame from the oxygen in the surrounding air, cutting off one of the three elements of combustion - the combustion aid (oxygen). As the oxygen around the flame is exhausted, the combustion reaction gradually weakens until it stops, thus achieving the purpose of extinguishing the fire.
